Background. Copper coordinating compounds, derivatives of thiosemicarbazide (CC) have a wide spectrum of medical and pharmaceutical applications. Free radicals are involved in the initiation of oxidative stress (OS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) is the basic marker of OS. Objective of the study. Evaluation of changes in the content of MDA in muscle tissue at the action of new CC. Material and Methods. New CC (coded compounds - CMJ-33, CMT-67, TIA-3 and TIA-160) were administered to white rats at a dose of 1.0 μM/kg for 30 days 3 times a week. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test. Determination of MDA was performed in muscle homogenates using kits purchased from local manufacturers, adapted for application to Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader (BioTek Instruments, USA). Results. The content of MDA in muscle tissue recorded a slight increase. When the compounds CMJ-33, CMT-67 and TIA-3 were administered, the MDA content (μM/g tissue) was statistically conclusively increased to 0,181 (0,173-0,185) (p<0.001); 0,171 (0,160-0,190) (p<0.01); and, respectively 0.169 (0.147-0.183) compared to the control lot. The administration of TIA-160 results in the MDA content returning to normal with 0.157 (0.155 - 0.165) from the control values by 0.149 (0.121-0.160). Conclusion. CC taken in the study causes an increase in the content of MDA in muscle tissue. The data obtained demonstrate the usefulness of continuing research for the purpose of obtaining new biologically active substances, sources of raw material for the pharmaceutical industry. |
