Rezumat

The research was dedicated to the study of the formation of the Self Image (IS) in adolescents during their interaction with their immediate social environment (parents, peers and teachers). It was postulated that the quality, structure and mechanism of the process shaping the IS during adolescence is influenced by the social environment of the adolescent and by the internal and external factors accepted by the adolescents. The findings showed that adolescents growing in the Republic of Moldova confronted and had to overcome serious difficulties in order to form on IS adequate and favorable to their social integration. The findings indicated that the family unit and parental attitudes are the strongest contributors to the shaping of the IS. The research also investigated the psychological profile of the adolescent and its relationship with different levels of IS (favorable, neutral and unfavorable).
