Rezumat

Triticale (Triticosecale Witt.), the first successful human-made hybrid cereal grain, was deliberately produced by crossing wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale). The crossing of two crops is to obtain the best characteristics of the two crops. Triticale combines yield potential and grain quality of wheat with the disease and environmental tolerance including adaptability to difficult soils, drought tolerance, cold hardiness, disease resistance and low-input requirements of rye. As a result of individual selection in F2 and repeated improvement in selection of F6, we identified the best line, which was later named Ingen 54. Triticale Ingen 54 was created by crossing the genetically divergent parents, varieties Canar (Romania) and Bogo (Bulgaria). The variety belongs to the Erytrospermum variation and has a following characterization: a white spike, without pubescence, with white awns and the kernel is red. The spike is of a medium size (10,0-12,0 cm), cylindrical of a medium density (28-30 spikelets per 10 cm of the spike rachis length). The kernel is medium (the weight of 1,000 kernels is 38-39g), oval, contains 12.0-13.5% of protein and 23-24% of gluten. The kernel number per spike varies from 65 to 70, 2-3 kernels per spike. The vegetation period, if sown in the second-third decade of September consist 270-280 days. The variety belongs to a medium ripening group. The plants are 100115 cm tall; a tillering plant contains 2,8-3,0 stems. In field conditions he is characterized by high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, brown rust, fusarium, septoriose and root rot. He is resistant to drought and wintering. The variety is highly productive and the productivity potential reaches 6.5 - 8.5 t / ha, which is 2.0-3.0 tons more, than in the control variety Ingen 93. It has satisfactory biochemical and baking qualities. Sowing is recommended for the product at the end of September - early October with the seeding norm of 4.5 - 5.0 million grains per 1 ha (230-250 kg). The cultivation technology is similar to that of common autumn wheat. This variety harmoniously combines resistance to the limiting factors of the environment, high stable yield and grain quality. The variety Ingen 54 was tested in three-year trials at three localities by comparing with the standard variety Ingen 93. According to the results of tests by the State Commission for Variety Testing, the Ingen 54 triticale variety was included in the Catalog of Plant Varieties of the Republic of Moldova in 2020.
