Regia, ca orice altă ştiinţă, evoluează, se dezvoltă ascendent. În timp, optica ei modifi că unghiul de vedere asupra lucrurilor şi este perfectibilă în funcţie de gradul şi diversitatea informaţiei culturale, de empirismul cunoaşterii ştiinţifi ce. În teatru şi în şcoală poate fi auzită o părere mai mult amatoricească decât înţeleaptă, care periclitează adevărata cale a cunoaşterii: „se poate şi aşa…”, „se poate şi altfel…”,„se poate într-o mie de feluri...”. Adevărul cert este că o asemenea gândire nu poate fi aşa sau altfel. Acţiunea fără cunoaştere nu acceptă vocabulele „nici” sau „într-un fel”. Diletantul are impresia că totul este simplist, este posibil şi accesibil, căci el nu percepe exact implicaţiile intelectuale care îl obligă să dureze o perspectivă trainică, să atingă esenţe, să contureze unghiuri de vedere originale etc. Pentru a deveni legitate, performanţa trebuie să se edifi ce pe pilonii competenţei şi cunoaşterii principiilor, fundamentelor generale, pe teoria fenomenelor din domeniul Regiei
