The teaching profession involves a range of responsibilities, roles, wishes, qualities, skills, which make it distinct from many other professions whose „object” of work is man. The knowledge-based society we live in today is developing at a fast pace and the skills required of teachers are constantly changing. Teachers must be promoters of quality education designed to lead to performance. A model teacher should form a democratic and not authoritarian pedagogical style, take into account the pupil's needs, not only his obligations, to have that vocation for his career, vocation that means both internal motivation and love for children. Among the ideal qualities of a good teacher are educational talent, social and empathic skills and the ability to connect not only with the class of pupils, but also with each individual student. A good teacher acts as a leader in his Community and constantly seeks opportunities for collaboration with other colleagues to create transdisciplinary learning experiences for his or her students. It also creates opportunities for exchanges of experiences with other colleagues so as to constantly improve teaching in the classroom. But more than a good teacher for his students, being a good Community colleague, a guide and a model for the parents of students is a goal for every teacher who wants to achieve the potential of his profession. Teachers who work together create schools that teach and are the people who, through the collective power of the community, change paradigms, systems, destinies and make the people of our future. The chance of education in the Republic of Moldova lies in the ability to implement successful processes of selection and training of leading teachers. |
