The current state of food supply of the population is analyzed. The role of the state in the context of food security is determined and current mechanisms of state regulation are analyzed. Direct and indirect legislative assurance of food security at the national level is assessed. The peculiarities of development of state regulation and support of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine are investigated. It was established that in the period 2009-2013 one of the most effective mechanisms of state support for agricultural enterprises was a special regime of value added tax, which provided transparency of the relationship between the producer and the processor. It was found that the abolition of the special regime of VAT taxation in the context of increasing tax pressure led to a weakening of Ukraine's export positions in foreign markets, as well as the manifestation of real threats to the state's food security for certain types of products, especially livestock products. The dynamics of financing the development of agroindustrial complex in the context of existing programs on irreversible and rotary basis is analyzed. The main directions of financial policy in the field of state regulation of food security are identified. It is established that important directions of state regulation of food security of the country at the present stage are measures aimed at strengthening quality control, achieving balanced nutrition and safety of agricultural products and food in the country. Comparative analysis of consumer price indices and processors for foodstuffs and prices of agricultural producers in dynamics is made. It is determined that in recent years there has been an increase in the consumer price index for food and prices for agricultural products compared to the price index of processors, which is caused by the lack of effective state control over price fluctuations in the food market of Ukraine. The main directions of state policy and mechanisms for achieving food security of the country are identified.
