The purpose of this paper is to identify possible solutions to help promote cultural tourism within the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion. In recent years, the role of tourism in the development of border areas has become a very important one. In a world in constant change, with people increasingly busy, cultural tourism has begun to gain many followers. This form of tourism can play a very important role in cross-border cooperation between regions. Valorization of the historical monuments, as well as promoting festivals with specific themes or journey to the world of personalities from various fields, can bring real benefits to communities in the area. Apart from these aspects, cultural tourism is perceived as an elitist tourism, which is generally addressed to people with a particular education. From this point of view, the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion has a very important cultural and historical heritage. Therefore, promoting actions to draw attention to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, or those less known but of significant historical and cultural value, could be a first step towards attracting a significant number of tourists eager to discover these areas. At the same time, tourism is one of the key factors in the development of border areas, for which the European Union allocates substantial funds to support the implementation of projects promoting local culture and traditions. |
