The Euroregion, as a way of cross-border cooperation, ensures the functionality of the economic system of border areas in the neighboring countries. Of course, both the activities of the Euroregions and the cross-border cooperation have been studied over the years and the results of the investigations have been presented at various scientific sessions and have been published. However, the development of any Euroregion is influenced by an overwhelming number of political, economic and social factors that are extremely dynamic. Moreover, these factors are often marked by dynamism, often uncertainty and risk, sometimes even hostility. This situation forces us to intensify the concerns, including the studies, on the activity of the Euroregions and the cooperation between the border areas of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The article focuses on the factors that influence the cooperation of the border areas of the nominated countries. Based on the study, the authors come up with some proposals that would change the situation to "better."
