The development of the investment activity in the Republic of Moldova concerned with introduction of the National strategy of investment attraction and export promotion for 2016 – 2020 years is described in this article. Consequently, the author describes the general characteristics of the investment situation in long-term investment assets for the introduction period (2016 – 2018 years) compared with prior three-year period. The advantages of development of successful investment activity at microeconomic and macroeconomic levels of the national economy are found out. This also causes the important changes in social life. The article includes dynamics of such macroeconomic indicators as gross domestic product, gross capital formation, investment in long-term assets. According to them, the proportion of long-term investment assets in gross domestic product was calculated. Then the investment structure in long-term assets in different aspects was analyzed: by form of ownership (private investments prevail); by source of financing (investments financing from enterprises’ internal funds); by national economy sectors (construction, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing industry, governmental administration, defence and compulsory social insurance). The distribution of investment in long-term assets from a territorial aspect in shown (prevalence in central part of the country is found, especially Chișinău and central district). The most underinvested region is considered the south part of the country. The provided analysis of National strategy implementation shows that its results are not enough and it is necessary to develop and introduce further new programs. The government plays an important role in this process.
