The emotional abuse practiced by parents over their children can have less obvious forms, which are even more harmful in what concerns the psychological and social development of the child, such as humiliation, forbidding the child to play with other children, threatening, destroying personal belongings, critics, refusal of affection, ignoring the child, giving more obvious attention to the siblings, forcing the child to participate in activities that he/she does not like or even fears, sarcasm, irony, overcriticism. Among the most severe consequences of this type of abuse there are anxiety, depression, aggressiveness, somatization disorders, digestive and cardio-vascular disorders, sleeping problems, social isolation.
