The article analyses the main motion of the research, the origin and functions of the religion. The situation of the church in the Republic of Moldova was studied on the basis on statistical data, results of a survey and the material of other researchers. It was determined that the trust in church in comparison with that in other institution of the society is higher by 73,8%. The trust in the governmental institution is extremely reduced: only 22,5% of the subject count on the support of the Government, 21,6% trust the President and only 17.1% trust the Parliament. The majority of the Moldovans 93% belong to the Orthodox Church. The number of people that identify themselves as churchgoers is also impressive (84%). Being the paramount religious institution, the church is attended by 96,7%. Nevertheless two fifths attend church rarely once in couple of years usually baptisms, weddings and funerals. This group of people do not participate in religious rituals and do not share the moral values of the religion. |
