,,The world of ideas, the prototype of the sensible world that destroys the fundamental links and oppositions between a few dominant notions with the function of command and control of thought" (Plato) - constitutes the dialectic of the contemporary world, thus Man being anchored in the social paradigm, this being a "matrix", a model, an ideal for something. In today's world, socio-human relations are increasingly important, as cultural factors shape both the integration and disintegration tendencies of individuals in society. "The fundamental source of conflict in the new world will no longer be primarily ideological or economic. The great divisions between people and the dominant source of conflict will be cultural. Nation states will remain the most powerful actors in international relations, but the main conflicts will be between nations and groups of different civilisations. The clash of civilisations will dominate world politics, and the dividing line between civilisations will be the line of confrontation in the future". (Samuel P. Huntington) The 20th century effectively created a new cultural reality, new systems of thought, new forms of artistic expression, new ways of relating to the world, a new human self-consciousness. Contemporary culture is the cumulative result of fundamental changes that have taken place in the modern era in various fields of cultural creation, technical progress and political organisation. The most relevant changes have occurred in science and in the space of aesthetic creation, from where they have radiated into the technical and economic plane of civilisation. The 20th century saw radical changes in scientific representations of nature, the methodologies of science and the functional relationship between science and technology, forms of artistic representation and the relationship between art and the environment, the means of social communication, the quality of life and the scenography of everyday life. The 20th century brought radical changes in the economic, cultural, educational, ecological and historical fields, among which the extraordinary successes achieved by scientific knowledge stand out, hence the predominance of scientific values, the acceleration of cultural change and the crisis of traditional values, the increase in the intensity of creation, the feverish search for new means and forms of expression, the rapid integration of cultural values into the system of social activities through the mass media, the democratisation of access to culture, the expansion of mass culture, the emergence of pseudo-culture phenomena - a global paradigm that has been consciously recognised by the world's social experts, who are remobilising and theoretically reorienting themselves from the traditional bio-psycho-social model towards conflict theories. |
