If in previous years, bullying inside the school continued after hours through electronic devices (the modern child being addicted to smartphones and the Internet), in the context of online school, where children no longer interacted but were isolated, traditional bullying has moved to online and digital aggression has increased a lot. In Romania there is talk of real “networks of young people” who humiliate their colleagues on the internet, sometimes even during classes. The time spent online had a negative effect on the students' psyche, the specialists signaling the appearance of emotional disorders that can appear against the background of overexposure to the screen, isolation, repressed emotions and not discussing with parents or friends. Cyberbullying has extremely serious consequences for victims, the aggression being long-lasting, and child victims may face anxiety, depression, behavioral and emotional disorders and even dramatic consequences, such as nonsuicidal self-harm or even suicide. Last year and this year, the media presented several cases of suicide among students, the worst being that of a sixth grader, a victim of bullying, who threw himself out the window at school, and some of his colleagues even they encouraged him to do so. This article reveals and outlines, especially the need for the intervention of the School Social Worker in effective prevention activities, but also intervention, when crisis situations, traumatic for students, occur within the school. |
