The etymology of the word statistics originates from the latin “status” – which has the meaning of political state. The historic roots of the modern statistics derive from practical statistics – a systematic or isolated registration which can be assimilated in the nowadays statistic observations. Another historic root of the modern statistics is the Descriptive Statistics – both a subject of teaching and concepts of the practical statistics necessary to the rule of a state. Another historic source of the modern statistics is the political arithmetic and the calculation of the probabilities – as a conceptual foundation and a way of interpreting the phenomena existing in the modern statistics. Today the word statistics is used in a universal language, both the scientific one and the language of daily life. We are in a way familiar with such notions as: statistic data, statistic information, statistic indices, statistic aspects, etc. |
