This article analyzes the content of the Chisinau newspaper “Russkoe slovo”, which covered the annual celebration of January 25 in the Republic of Moldova as Tatiana’s day or the day of Russian students. The materials of this newspaper for 2013–2020 were taken as the basis. The article also discusses the components of the celebration of Tatiana’s day. The background of the holiday was given: the life and activity of St. Tatyana and the creation of Moscow University in 1755 were highlighted. Special attention was paid by journalists to carrying out the rituals prescribed for this holiday. The publications of the “Russkoe slovo” reflecting the celebration of Students’ Day contained several main thematic elements: 1) Organization of events in Chisinau, Balti and Tiraspol by the Russian Community and the Russian Center of Science and Culture in different years; 2) The priest’s story about the life of the Holy Martyr Tatiana; 3) A theatrical performance dedicated to the establishment of the Russian Empress Elizabeth I Moscow University and the life of students; 4) The content of the concert music program; 5) Honoring girls named Tatiana and a festive tea party. |
